Jewel Shape Quilt Challenge

Let your creativity sparkle in the Fabric Play Quilting Jewel-Shaped Quilt Challenge! Create an original quilt inspired by the beauty and geometry of jewel shapes. The quilt top must prominently incorporate a jewel shape within the design, whether inspired by gemstones, faceted cuts, crystal formations, or jewel-toned color palettes.

Challenge entries should be small-format quilts with a maximum finished quilt top size of 24" x 36", making them perfect as wall hangings, table toppers, mini quilts, candle mats, or other decorative pieces.

Quilters are encouraged to interpret the theme in their own unique way. Any quilting style is welcome, including traditional piecing, modern quilting, foundation paper piecing, English paper piecing, appliqué, mixed techniques, and more. Explore color, texture, and design to create a piece that reflects your personal quilting style.

To be eligible, the quilt must be started and completed during the challenge period. Whether your design is bold and modern, elegant and traditional, or completely unexpected, this challenge is an opportunity to showcase your creativity, craftsmanship, and love of quilting.

Challenge Dates

• Challenge opens: August 1, 2026

• Final entry deadline: August 30, 2026, at 3:59 PM

Requirements

• The quilt top must use the Jewel shape within it.

• Maximum quilt top size: 24" x 36"

• Any quilting style is welcome (traditional, modern, foundation paper piecing, English paper piecing, appliqué, etc.).

• Quilts may be wall hangings, table toppers, or mini quilts.

• The quilt must be completed during the challenge period. 

Please submit: A wall hanging, table topper, or mini quilt in person to the shop. To be entered in the challenge.

Customers will vote on their favorite use of the Jewel shape Tuesday September 1st- Sunday September 6th.

A lovely gift basket will be given to the quilt top with the most votes.
