Selecting Fabric: Color and Beyond
Do you find yourself standing in a quilt store overwhelmed by the sheer number of fabric options? Are you worried about making the wrong choices to use in your quilts?
I think this quote by Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic sums up the dilemma: “Choosing fabric can feel like speed dating in a room full of super models. Everyone is gorgeous. Everyone is tempting. And suddenly you trust no one.”
Selecting Fabric: Color and Beyond is a three-part class, during which you’ll learn about using color and choosing fabrics for your quilts.
- Part 1—Let’s Talk About Color will take place on Saturday, August 1 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. During this session, you’ll learn some basics about color.
- Part 2—Let’s Continue Talking About Color will take place on Sunday, August 2 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. During this session, you’ll continue learning about color. We’ll be exploring value, intensity and color ratios.
- Part 3—Let’s Talk About Fabric will take place on Saturday, August 8 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. During this final session, you’ll learn about fabric styles and what to consider when choosing fabrics for a quilt.
Creativity is a process…the more you explore and try new things, the more you’ll find your own sense of expression. Hopefully, this class will help you trust your instincts and have fun!
Cancellation policy: You may request a full refund for your class or transfer to another class if it is more than 48 hours prior to the date of the class. If you request a transfer, any credits/charges will be made at that time if any, subject to availability. Cancellations made 48 hours or less before a class will not be refunded. By signing up for a class, you acknowledge this cancellation policy. You may still purchase the kit and/or pattern at retail price that would have otherwise been included in the cost of the class. | Instructor Bio: | Brenda Erickson began sewing as a child and has been quilting for almost 30 years. Her interest in color theory began shortly after she started quilting, and she has established an extensive library on the topic. She previously taught classes on color theory and fabric selection at Holly’s Quilt Cabin. |
